Hi, and a very warm welcome to my website My name is Roger, and I live in a small North Lincolnshire village. I'm also known as Lincsbirder so that's why I chose the name for the site.
I have been a bird watcher for over thirty years but more recently, just over three years ago in fact I started to photograph what I saw.
Much of my photography is done on my local patch Messingham nature reserve in North Lincolnshire. Messingham is run by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust and is an excellent reserve. I do visit most of the other local reserves now and again and also make trips further afield when time and weather conditions allow.
Although I started off photographing birds, dragonflies, damselflies and butterflies have become favourite subjects as well. I tend to take more bird photographs during the autumn and winter months, switching to the insects during late spring and summer. I am always careful to keep any disturbance to the birds and other wildlife to a minimum in my mission to get a photograph. You won't see any nest photographs on this site unless they can be photographed from a public right of way with no disturbance to the birds.
I regard myself as a keen amateur photographer and I'm always trying to improve on my techniques and skills.
I recommend viewing the photos via the slide show. This will allow you to see the photographs at maximum size and detail. Just press F11 on your keyboard once the slide show window opens. This will give you a full screen view, to revert back to your normal screen press F11 again. Clicking a second time on a photograph when not in the slide show will also show a larger version in most cases.
I use the following equipment Canon 400D and 40D camera bodies. Canon 400mm F5.6L USM lens. Sigma 50-500mm F6.3 zoom lens. Sigma 150mm F2.8 macro lens. Kenko Pro 300 1.4x tc Manfrotto tripod with 488RC4 ball head. Manfrotto carbon fibre monopod with 234RC tilt head Canon 580EX 11 speedlite flash. Better Beamer flash extender Lambency flash diffuser Sroboframe quick flip 350 off camera flash bracket Tamrac Expedition Eight backpack for carrying it all around.
I hope you enjoy looking at the photographs as much as I have enjoyed taking them. Please spare a moment of your time to make a comment in any of the guestbooks, I'm not easily offended and all comments are most welcome.

Your work is very impressive, doubly so for your resourceful approach to bird photography in your garden. I particularly like your goldfinches, blue tits and others that we never see here in the U.S. Thanks for stopping by my site and for the very nice compliment. If you hadn't found my site, I might not have found yours.
Now I've resolved to make some improvements in my garden setup!
