Took this sequence of shots of a Grey Heron with a Pike at Far Ings nature reserve in North Lincolnshire.
The Heron caught the Pike in deep water and flew across the lake to a shallow part to deal with the Pike. Herons aren't daft and I assume it brought it to the shallow part of the lake because it would be easier to retrieve if it was dropped which it did several times before managing to eat it.
The light was rather poor at the time so the photographs are a little flat but still worth viewing. A great experience watching this young Heron deal with a fish as large as this one. Enjoy.
